Shah Alam,21 April, 2011: MOX-Linde Gases Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s leading industrial gases company is continuing its support for Montfort Boys Town (MBT) by sponsoring a five years supply of welding consumables to the institution’s welding department.
MOX-Linde which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year has been a staunch supporter of MBT for the past six years.
MOX-Linde managing director, SY Wong reiterated the company’s support by handing over the sponsorship to MBT Director, Bro. John Albert in a brief ceremony at MBT today.
“This contribution by MOX-Linde is also to support the Government’s various measures to recognize and enhance vocational education as an important driver of the country’s economic progress.
“The Education Ministry has already initiated transformation to develop the vocational field but the percentage of students taking up the discipline is still low and cannot meet the need for skilled manpower. This is where the role of institutions like Montfort Boys Town becomes more important as contributors to the economic progress of the country.
Wong also commended MBT for playing a meaningful role in developing youth to be productive members of society and contributing to the well being of the nation.
“It is indeed a privilege for us to be able to play a role in supporting Montfort Boys Town in its noble mission,” Wong added.
Bro. John Albert in his speech said MBT began its mission 52 years ago and its main focus has always been to provide character formation and skills training for the at risk youth in its care.
“This year we celebrated our 52nd Anniversary and we feel that our mission is even more relevant to-day in the context of Malaysia’s socio-economic development.
“All the courses provided at Montfort had prepared our trainees to become part of the nation’s workforce and responsible citizens of the country. We have had approximately 5000 boys and girls who had graduated over the years,” he said.
