Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia/WashingtonD.C.,USA,28 June 2011: MOX-Linde Gases Sdn Bhd (MOX-Linde), Malaysia’s leading industrial and specialty gases company, today exchanged a memorandum of collaboration with Malaysian Bio-XCell Sdn Bhd (Bio-XCell) in the presence of The Right Hon. Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia during the BIO International Convention 2011 in Washington DC. MOX-Linde was represented by its Managing Director, Mr. Wong Siew Yap whilst YM Raja Ridzwa Raja Abdul Aziz, CEO represented Bio-XCell.
Bio-XCell is a biotechnology ecosystem for industrial and healthcare biotechnology, with a focus on manufacturing and R&D. Developed by Malaysian Bio-XCell Sdn Bhd, a joint venture company between BiotechCorp and UEM Land, the park is positioning itself to be the new regional biotech hub of Asia.
MOX-Linde will invest around RM 5 million [USD 1.7 million] in the first phase of the project to install the supply infrastructure and facilities required to support the industrial and specialty gases needs of the biotechnology companies operating within the park. MOX-Linde expects to invest up to RM 30 million [USD 10 million] in the project as more biotechnology players are attracted to set up operations in the near to medium term.
Under the terms of the memorandum of collaboration, MOX-Linde, a member of The Linde Group, a world-leading gases and engineering company, will assist Bio-XCell in jointly promoting and marketing the biotechnology ecosystem project and assessing the industrial and specialty gas requirements of Bio-XCell’s biotechnology clients.
Managing Director of MOX-Linde, Mr. Wong said, “We are excited about the potential of the project and look forward to working with Bio-XCell and its global clients to transform Nusajaya into a vibrant biotechnology hub in Asia. This latest project in Malaysia’s southern development corridor will further extend The Linde Group’s footprint in the country,” Wong added.
